Old school music never fails to make people happy, even when celebrating death. The Heavy D set beings two hours and thirty minutes in and was followed by a tribute to a few of our favorite artists who have also passed away. To start off though, we had a Drake listening session for his new album Take Care. I didn’t capture most of it, but when we got to Cameras I had to press record and start going in. Enjoy…
This is me taking a bow in an exclusive swagged out coogi cardigan that won’t be available to the rest of you bums until 2025. That’s just how I do shit nahmsayin.
Anyway, here’s Live From Thrive 9. The first 45 minutes or so were kinda beastly. I started off playing a few of my favorite new cuts. After that I went into a little Ryan Leslie mix. That guy is so underrated man. The party got started kinda early this week, and the females were juiced up and ready to go, so I tried to cater to them a bit. Cool little party mix. Check it out.
You know the drill. The party started kinda late this time so I was able to do my thing without getting into club mode too early. This is another one of my favorites. Very clean with minimal mistakes. I was proud of myself after listening which is an anomaly because I’m usually highly critical of my shit. This one is perfect for the whip.
The response for these have been nothing but positive. It trips me out when people tell me they actually listen to this shit or they heard someone else bumping these joints. Thanks for taking the time to check em out and for all the retweets and stuff. Peaaaaaaaaace.
Yoooooooo. Been a few weeks without an update, so I’m going to make it up by bringing you two mixes full of hot scorching fire for your new iPhone and shit. The first joint is at my thursday weekly spot we like to call Thrive. The second joint is from Saturday where I got an opportunity to cover for my man DJ Q at our other weekly spot called LiV.
I’ve been dedicating some time to improve and tweak my club sets for the better and hopefully you can tell with these two mixes. Check em out.
I’ve been thinking about putting out my club sets from my other residency at this spot called BLVD Nights that I do on Saturdays as well. These sets are a lot more gutter than you might be used to hearing from me. I’m not sure if 2 long ass club mixes a week from me is overkill or not, but we’ll see. So yeah, look out for that maybe….
Whatup tho? Here’s last night’s #thrive set. A lot of new stuff on this one. I *almost* did this one completely sober, but I’m weak and ended up relapsing on two glasses of wine. Tracklist.
Ayo yo yo but yo….what’s up. Back again with another Live From Thrive drop. This one is chill, mellow, and relaxed. We were definitely cooling it last night. Started the journey off with some Slum Village, Drake, and some other smooth tracks. Got into some Jay-Z, played some newer hood joints, and then we got drunk and ended the night with some old school late 90s stuff. I was very anti-popular club music for a majority of the night. I don’t think I played one single popular club song lol. This might be my favorite Live From Thrive, even though my djing wasn’t particularly spectacular or anything. But I like the vibe of this one…check it out.
Ayo, I’m back again with another live from the club mix. Not much to say about this one. We had an active energetic crowd that I was feeding off of and the mix reflects that. This one is definitely a little more aggressive. The commentary on the mic gets hilarious towards the end. I also was trying some new transitions and such. I really fucked up the transition into Homegurl, I don’t know wtf happened. Forgive me DJ gods.
Oh yeah, people were asking me about the last song. It is The Weeknd’s Gone. That song is crazy. Download their newest mixtape here.
Bonus: I forgot to post Live From Thrive 3 last week. The first 40 minutes are really smooth. Oh and I got to play my favorite song of all time at the very end. Check it out. Tracklist
Live from Thrive Vol 2. is here. This aint your average club mix. Something about Djing at this spot makes me do things out of the norm and try new stuff. A whole heap of new music on this one along with a few classics. I started an impromptu Aaliyah Tribute at around 1:30 that lasted a lil longer than I planned. But once I got into it I couldn’t stop. I love that woman. I think I was a lil drunker this week compared to last week thanks to her and her
So, me and DJ Q were supposed to do a mixtape for The Affair this week but I was busy with work and doing other cool important things so I never got around to it. I decided to record my set from our weekly party session at #Thrive to make up for it. This set was kinda weird for a club set because, due to the rain, we didn’t have much of a crowd so I was just playing whatever for about 2 hours…and I was totally trashed. I’m not even going to mention the fact that I was djing with 2 of the most warped records ever smh. All of this makes for an interesting listen to say the least. Check it out.
Ayoooooo. What’s the deal? I’m back again to take my folks on another musical journey. I felt a lot of pressure to out do our last attempt at mixtape greatness. I think this one meets expectations. Do me a favor tho, listen to the whole damn tape all the way through the first time aight? Let me control this lol. Hope y’all enjoy.
