R.I.P. DJ Roc Raida of The X-Ecutioners

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

The DJing community takes another huge loss with the passing of DJ Roc Raida. The X-Ecutioners were definitely one of the best and most legendary turntablism crews out there. They were an inspiration to me and Roc Raida was a DJ that a lot of battle DJs tried to model themselves after in the mid to late nineties. He won the coveted DMC championships in 1995. His set was legendary. Peace to his family and friends. Here’s a couple of other vids starting with his 95 DMC routine…

R.I.P. DJ AM (Adam Goldstein)

Damn, it seems like I’ve made a lot of R.I.P. posts lately. AM really changed the game. I’m glad I got the opportunity to see him live. Here’s a cool tribute done by sneakerfiles.

Earlier today, Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, passed away in his 7th floor New York apartment at approximately 5:20 PM. Though DJ AM was most known for his incredible music skills, he was also an avid sneaker enthusiast as was displayed by our very own Sneaker Tribute to DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) that was showcased almost a year ago. As most can remember, DJ AM and Travis Barker were nearly killed in a plane crash last year, but were both finally returning to their normal lives after making full recoveries. We, the staff at Sneaker Files, would like to convey our sincerest condolences to the Goldstein family and all others affected by the death of a great individual. Rest in peace, Adam. Please share your thoughts, prayers, and memories via the comments section below.

All My Favorite Rappers Are Dumbasses

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

max_b_560-1

Pimp C, Mystikal, Shyne, DMX, T.I., Remy Ma, Gucci Mane, C-Murder, Prodigy, Cassidy, Beanie Sigel, all among prominent rappers who have went to or are currently on lock. Now we can add Max B to that list. Just a gotdamn shame. This guy wrote the hook to one of the biggest singles of that year with Jim Jones’ Ballin, only to fuck it up by getting himself wrapped up in this mess:

“Gina Conway and two others were charged with murder after a botched robbery at the Holiday Inn on Route 4 ended in the shooting death of one of the victims in September 2006.

Authorities said Conway, 31, met David Taylor and Allan “Jay” Plowden and told her boyfriend that the two men drove flashy cars and carried a lot of cash.

The boyfriend, Charly Wingate, a hip-hop artist from Harlem known as “Max B,” then recruited an associate to rob Taylor and Plowden, prosecutors said.”

Today Max B was found guilty of 9 counts including felony murder, kidnapping, robbery and conspiracy. It’s really a shame. He could have been one of the hottest free agents in the game not named Drake. Its simply a sad situation. See you in about twenty years Max, hold your head…

Tip: “He essentially deceived us…”

alphamega

Damn looks like Tip gave ‘em his papers…

Even though all our artists and employees are asked by us to be honest and open about their past history, at no time did Alfa disclose to me or Grand Hustle what has now appeared in the media. He essentially deceived us by failing to fully disclose the truth about his past and there is no place in our organization for dishonest and misleading behavior. As I have always said, you must take responsibility for your own actions. We at Grand Hustle can not support or condone the blaming of others for our own mistakes. I hope and pray to god bless his financial plans, but I don’t forsee me or my company playing a role in his personal or professional business. End.

We hit the 100k mark on the site today (doesn’t include my own visits to the site lol). That’s pretty dope considering A.) we try to keep it straight hiphop here without the B.S. youtube video beefs, etc and B.) we did this in under 2 months (We didn’t start tracking hits until the beginning of January). Anyway, I’m sure you don’t give a fuck about that shit lol…

A bunch of leftover tracks I aint feel like posting after the jump…

Me and Mike Jones @ Club Dallas

Friday, February 20th, 2009

lightsoutmikejones1

If anyone’s in the KC area on March 13th, come check me and Mike Jones out @ Club Dallas. Also tomorrow I’ll be at Mizzou DJing for drunk college girls with their sexy liquid leggings on (my favorite trend right now). Should be fun…

Oh and for the record, I’m not affiliated with any DJ organizations or groups as of right now. Since I’m a proud STLien, a lot of Kansas City promoters assume that I’m a Derrty DJ, and before I can say something, a billion fliers are already out on the streets. That move hasn’t been made quite yet,  so I just wanted to clear that up.
