In a weird way, The DJ is really glad to see this guy come back to hip-hop.
Call it a comeback. After nearly two years out of the spotlight, the Diplomats’ charismatic founder, Cam’ron, sat down with XXL magazine for his first interview in years.
The cover story features Cam finally speaking on his enigmatic hiatus, Diplomats ownership, being an alleged “paper gangster” and the root of his rifts with Jim Jones and Juelz Santana, among other things. While Dipset loyalists seemingly can’t get over Dipset being a Cam-less crew, Killa appears to have moved on. “…So I understand what the fans are saying,” Cam told XXL executive editor Vanessa Satten, who penned the article. “And it’s kinda messed up. But what you gotta realize is that things can always be fixed behind the scenes. But once a problem gets public, it’s kind of unfixable.”

Production by The Block Beattaz (slow motion soundz) and featuring the likes of Gucci Mane, Jackie Chain, Mata, and more. Be on the lookout for this one in the near future…

The Pitch Weekly breaks down this year’s hit records by genre, gender, and region. You might be surprised by some of the data covered in this article. Basically the south wins.
“The unlikely Southern coalition of country musicians and R&B/rap artists combined to stomp all other regions in terms of chart placement. It didn’t hurt that the country music capital is Nashville (and Miley Cyrus was born there) and the R&B HQ is Atlanta. Powerhouse 2008 rap states Louisiana (Lil Wayne), Florida (T-Pain, Plies, Rick Ross, Trina), Texas (Beyoncé), and Virginia (Jason Mraz, Brad Paisley, longtime incumbent Timbaland) proved a powerful block. The Klondike [see previous note] had its Jewel and Hawaii its Jack Johnson, but America didn’t seem to care. Lacking much rap or country muscle at all, the West Coast was forced to rely on strong showings from pop/rock artists (Katy Perry, Keyshia Cole, Sara Bareilles, Buckcherry). Ditto the East Coast, whose influence on the American songbook is finally, thankfully, on the wane (Jersey’s Jonas Brothers, Pennsylvania’s Taylor Swift, and, er, New York’s Lady GaGa excepted).”
People were HEATED about Sirius XM giving its old school hiphop station the axe. Welp worry no more!
SIRIUS XM Radio (Nasdaq: SIRI) today announced the return of two music channels: The Strobe and Backspin. SIRIUS XM listeners will be able to listen to The Strobe and Backspin beginning Thursday, January 15.
New York wants a share of iTunes’ money. What part of the game is this? Times that hard in NYC?
The state is staring at a $15.4 billion deficit so Gov. David Paterson is proposing an “iPod tax” as part of his state budget. Under the plan, New York would charge state and local sales tax for “digitally delivered entertainment services,” according to a story in The New York Daily News.

DJs doing big things….
The Core DJs have launched an internationally syndicated radio show, which made its debut two weeks ago.
The new show has already been picked up by close to 20 radio stations so far, including affiliates in Belgium, Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria.
Absolutely nothing happened in the hiphop world this weekend so if you’re wondering why there weren’t many updates, its because I had nothing to really update yall with. I coulda posted some bullshit music that was sent to me or some wack updates to the Soulja Boi vs. Charles Hamilton beef, but I won’t insult yall’s intelligence like that. You’ll only find relevant news and good music on this website. We filter out the bullshit. But I digress. The good news is that this website is doing great. We’ve done 8000 hits in a little more than 2 weeks. So thanks for that.
One highlight of my weekend was that I got to meet DJ Q45, the last host of Rap City (RIP). He’s a cool and humble dude. We talked about DJing and music for a while. He confirmed the fact that famous DJs are cooler than famous rappers lol. Here’s a pic:

I told you all yesterday about some foolishness that’s going on over in the Aphilliates camp.
According to the Atlanta industry buzz, Don Cannon and DJ Drama are going in different directions. Truth be told they’ve been doing it for quite some time unofficially. Don is killing it with his production credits as well as his entrepreneurial endeavors and Drama is focusing on his new artist Willie Tha Kid.

“Yeah, it’s happening,” Mike told DX of his deal-in-the-works with T.I. “What I’m most happy about is, man, Tip really came to me respectful of the work I put in. Like, he didn’t come to me like, ‘How can I throw you a bone?’ He came to me like, ‘I see what you got going on. I really like what you [got] going on. I got some questions about what you got going on.’ He asked a few questions. I gave a few answers. And [he] was like, ‘I think I might be able to help with what [you] got going on. How would you feel about it?’”
