New ‘Kast nigga. Not else much to be said. This was supposed to be on the new Big Boi album but Jive is being Jive and not clearing 3 stacks to appear on it. Damn shame cause there was supposed to be a few more 3000 collabs besides this one. Oh well, props to Big Boi for even letting us have this.

The DJ can’t lie, I hated Stankonia when it dropped. I thought it was weird and left-field. In 2009, as I watch rapper after rapper turn into singers over electronica influenced beats, only now can I see just how ahead of the game Stankonia truly was. This shit could come out today and still feel brand new. Stankonia has aged well and turned into my second or third favorite Kast album.

“My daddy told me it was mine for the takin’, a true gift of god, the stars aligned when they made me,” Big Boi rhymes a line from the track “Daddy Fat Sax” as he struts into the control room, pausing only briefly by the light switches. “I like to keep it dim as a muthahfuckah, ’bout like you’re comin’ out of a cave,” he explains, describing the room — basked in the red glow of a Digidesign ICON D-Control board — that has been his creative sanctuary.
